Born in the skateparks and dive bars of San Jose, Jonny Manak and The Depressives deliver a
breakneck mix of punk, garage, surf, and rock n’ roll in stripped down power trio fashion.
Since 2006, frontman Jonny Manak has led the charge alongside a lineup of Bay Area misfits:
Neil D. Young on bass and backing vocals, and Chris Estep on drums and backing vocals.
Together, they blast out wild anthems that recall the Ramones, Dead Kennedys, and Chuck
Berry on overdrive.
The band has released 6 full length vinyl LPs, toured the U.S., Mexico, and Europe, and shared
stages with legends including Agent Orange, Stiff Little Fingers, Dead Boys, Marky Ramone,
Dick Dale, The Dwarves, Mudhoney, and many more.
Their songs have also ripped through TV, movie theaters, national advertising campaigns, and
video games, with music featured across MTV, Fuse, Fuel TV, ESPN, Fox Sports, Nickelodeon,
Cartoon Network, and other Viacom network channels. Their work has appeared in campaigns
for Pepsi, Verizon, MTV, and Vans Shoes, among others. On the side, Manak works as a
ghostwriter for Dickhouse Productions, the creators of Jackass. Most recently, their music was
featured in the EA Sports video game Skate4.
The press says:
-
"A rocket fueled garage punk assault that feels like the bastard child of The Stooges and
Dick Dale.” - Maximum Rocknroll
-
“Proof that California punk is alive, well, and nastier than ever.” - Razorcake
-
"Jonny Manak and The Depressives don’t just play rock n’ roll, they ignite it.” - New
Noise Magazine
Fast, loud, and unapologetically raw, Jonny Manak and The Depressives are keeping the flame
of real rock n’ roll alive, one blown out stage at a time.
